Musical Director

Tammy Ragsdale, Musical Director of Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus, is truly a "musical" director!  She is also the Associate Director of our sister chorus, ChannelAire; sings tenor in the mixed-voice, non-barbershop ensemble, Fusion; is a thirty-one year member of Sweet Adelines International (and that's a lot of singing!); and has passed the Director Certification Program through Sweet Adelines International.

As website editor relating her history above, I realized there's so much more to Tammy than her history!  So I asked her to write about what's important to her as we move ahead in our journey together. Here's what she said:

"The chorus is ecstatic with our fabulous third place finish at this year's Regional Competition in Bakersfield. The tight-scoring contest makes the white ribbons around our necks all the more sweet!

 Although barbershop is one of the oldest American art forms, don't be fooled into thinking it's old-fashioned!  Sweet Adelines is an innovative organization focused on competition, performance and education. The Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus excels at this in every respect.  In addition to singing classics from the American Songbook, we're also applying our unique style to songs like the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" and more!  We create a feeling like no other when our voices join together in song and ring those awesome chords.  It's something a musical instrument simply can't do!

This is an exciting time to be a Sweet Adeline! With shows like "Sing-Off," "The Voice" and "Glee," interest in singing and performing is more popular than ever before.  Its appeal is hitting a younger generation, making this a hobby that spans the generations. We offer you an extraordinary place to come and find YOUR voice.  If you sing with the radio while you drive, rock out in the shower, carry the tune singing "Happy Birthday," or can't keep yourself off the karaoke stage, then the big stage and the sisterhood of Sweet Adelines is the place for you!
