Gerry is a second-generation barbershopper and has been a member of Sweet Adelines International since she was a teen-ager. She is extremely well-known in the barbershop world as a member of the SAI Champion Quartets Panache (1990/tenor) and Fanatix (2002/bass) and as the baritone of the 2006 International Sixth Place Quartet Xtreme. Gerry is also a well-respected vocal coach and costume designer. In addition, she is the director of Region 21's Sounds of Harmony Chorus in Chino, California.

Gerry's husband, Nick Papageorge, is a singer and judge in the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA). Sons - Jesse, Sam and Nicky - are also involved in barbershop and music.
