A Cappella Scholarship Festival

The Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus was honored to sponsor the first-ever A Cappella Scholarship Festival as a featured portion of our 2005 Annual Show, In the Spotlight, held May 14. After performing and being evaluated by judges, each participating group received a cash prize for its school's a cappella music program. Many thanks to these talented students and teachers for their participation in this inaugural event.

A Cappella Scholarship Festival was made possible by a generous donation from
the
John Hench Foundation.

John Hench, Sr. Vice President, Creative Development at Walt Disney Imagineering, worked until he was 95. He was the creative force in Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Paris Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Verdugo Hills member Sandy Huskins, assistant to Mr. Hench for over 30 years, presented VHSC with a $5000 donation from the John Hench Foundation, established for charitable, scientific, literary, religious or educational purposes
